KD Pneumatic High-Speed Tube Squaring Machine

Compact ID-mounted tube squarer engineered for heat-exchanger and pressure- vessel manufacturing — where thousands of tube ends must be faced, chamfered and de-burred in a single shift. Pneumatic one-touch clamping, 59 mm head width fits into densely-packed tube sheets.

02 Working Principle

Why pneumatic one-touch clamping matters on tube sheets

A typical shell-and-tube exchanger has several hundred to several thousand tube ends penetrating each tube sheet, spaced on a triangular or square pitch as tight as 1.25 × OD. Conventional thread-clamp tube facers take 20 – 40 seconds per tube to mount, square, and dismount; on a 2000-tube bundle that becomes 11 – 22 hours of setup time alone. The KD's one-touch pneumatic mandrel engages in under a second per tube — the same operation completed in 30 – 60 minutes. The narrow head (≤ 59 mm) accepts the tightest TEMA pitch without fouling adjacent tubes.

03 Key Features

Built for the job site.

// 01
One-touch pneumatic clamping
Air-pressure-actuated expanding mandrel engages and releases in milliseconds. Designed for high-frequency tube-by-tube cycling on bundle work — replaces the manual threaded clamp that defines facing time on conventional machines.
// 02
59 mm head — fits the tightest tube pitch
Body cross-section sized to clear adjacent tubes on 1.25 × OD triangular pitch. The standard tool for densely-packed tube sheets where chuck-type facers cannot enter.
// 03
Square · chamfer · weld removal in one tool
Multi-position cutter performs end facing, internal chamfering for orbital welding fit-up, and removal of old weld remnants during re-tube. One tool replaces three on the bundle bench.
// 04
Auto-feed on -A variants
KD-24A and KD-48A add mechanical auto-feed gear — operator only presses the trigger, machine controls advance. Removes operator fatigue as the limiting factor on long bundle runs.
// 05
Cold cutting — no HAZ
Carbide insert at controlled feed produces a burr-free, oxide-free end surface ready for orbital welding without secondary preparation. Critical for stainless and Cr-Mo exchanger tubes.
// 06
Lightweight (7 – 13 kg)
Operator-carried at the bundle. Balanced for fatigue-free continuous use through a full shift — what the work actually demands on a 1000-tube run.
06 FAQ

Common questions about the KD Series · Pneumatic.

Can't find your answer?

When is this faster than an LPM electric facer?
On bundle work — anything with more than ~100 tube ends in one job. The LPM AC variant is faster per cut, but pneumatic one-touch clamping collapses the per-tube setup time from 20 – 40 s to under 2 s, which dominates total throughput on bundle production. LPM is the right choice for one-off or small-batch work where setup time is amortized over fewer cuts.
What air supply is needed?
Standard shop air at 6 bar (90 psi); flow rate roughly 300 L/min during cutting cycle. A typical 7.5 kW shop compressor supports one operator continuously.
Can it remove a previously welded tube end (re-tube application)?
Yes — the same multi-position cutter that does facing and chamfering also removes old weld remnants. Standard workflow on re-tube projects where the existing seal weld must be cleared before the tube can be pulled.
