21 sizes cover the working range.

Every size is built in electric (OCE), pneumatic (OCP) and hydraulic (OCH) drive on the same frame. The hydraulic OCH differs in wall capacity and power: it cuts wall up to 150 mm (OCE / OCP up to 35 mm), runs on a 7.5 / 11 / 15 kW power-pack by pipe size, and extends beyond Ø 1230 mm. Electric models run on 220 V.

02 Working Principle

How a split-frame clamshell mounts on in-situ pipe

The frame is built in two halves joined by a hinged spine and clamping bolts. To install, both halves open, wrap around the installed pipe and close — the bolts draw the frame concentric to the pipe OD through a self-aligning cone seat. A ring gear inside the closed frame rotates around the pipe while one or two radial tool slides feed inward, performing cut and bevel in the same pass. Because mounting needs no open pipe end, this is the only architecture that handles tie-ins, hot-taps and live replacement work on continuous pipe runs and welded manifolds.

03 Key Features

Built for the job site.

// 01
Clamps on installed pipe — no open end required
The two-piece clamshell wraps around continuous pipe runs, elbows, fittings and welded manifolds. The defining capability for in-line repair, tie-in and replacement work.
// 02
Light, compact external mounting — small radial footprint
Lightweight body and clamp-on mounting need little clearance around the pipe — suited to congested pipe racks. The OCE electric motor is only 1.8 – 3.0 kW depending on size, simple to operate.
// 03
One machine, many cut and bevel forms
A single body produces right-hand (RH) and left-hand (LH) bevels, straight parting, single-V prep, 37.5°+10° compound and double-compound bevels (with bore) — and cut plus bevel can run in the same pass.
// 04
Cold cutting — no HAZ, no sparks
Purely mechanical carbide cutting with no heat input. The pneumatic OCP variant is ATEX-friendly — the standard tool for live pipeline work in oil & gas hazardous areas.
// 05
Wall to 150 mm on hydraulic drive — tooling graded by thickness
OCE and OCP cut wall up to 35 mm with the standard tool block. The OCH hydraulic drive takes wall up to 150 mm with heavy-duty (70 mm) and bridge (150 mm) tool blocks; a spring-tracking block adds roundness compensation on deformed pipe over Ø 700 mm.
// 06
Compound bevels per ASME B16.25
Cuts 37.5° V-prep (1.6 mm land), 30° U-prep (1.6 mm land, R3), 6° U-prep (2 mm land, R5) and compound geometry compliant with ASME B16.25.

06 FAQ

Common questions about the OC Series · Split-Frame.

Can't find your answer?

When do I need a split-frame instead of an OD chuck (SOC) or ID-expand (ISE)?
When the pipe ends are not free — i.e. the pipe is already installed in a line, welded into a manifold, or running between elbows and fittings with no straight open end to thread a clamp onto. Split-frame is the only architecture that mounts on installed pipe. For free pipe ends in a fab shop a chuck-type (SOC) is faster to set up; for ID-mounted prep on flanged or congested ends, internal-expansion (ISE / ISP) is the right tool.
How do I pick between OCE / OCP / OCH drives?
OCE electric (220 V, 1.8 – 3.0 kW by size, 8 – 10 A) for indoor and general field work. OCP pneumatic (0.6 – 0.8 MPa, 1500 – 2000 L/min air, vane or piston motor) for hazardous areas — refinery, offshore, petrochemical. Both cover Ø 25 – 1230 mm in 20 sizes and cut wall up to 35 mm. OCH hydraulic (10 MPa rated, 5 – 45 L/min infinitely variable, 50 m remote control) for wall over 35 mm — up to 150 mm — and for pipe above Ø 1230 mm. Its power-pack scales with pipe size: 7.5 kW up to Ø 610 mm, 11 kW for Ø 610 – 1230 mm, 15 kW above Ø 1230 mm.
Which cut and bevel forms can it produce?
Right-hand (RH) and left-hand (LH) bevels, straight parting, single-V prep, 37.5°+10° compound and double-compound (with bore). Bevel-angle examples: 37.5° V-prep (1.6 mm land), 30° U-prep (1.6 mm land, R3), 6° U-prep (2 mm land, R5); compound geometry per ASME B16.25.
Can the machine bevel without parting the pipe?
Yes — fit a bevel-only tool block in place of the parting wheel. The clamshell and ring-gear architecture is identical; only the tool block changes. The same machine handles severing, beveling, boring and end-face work.
What about heavy-wall pipe over 35 mm?
Use the OCH hydraulic drive, which cuts wall up to 150 mm, and swap the tool block: the heavy-duty block cuts wall up to 70 mm and the bridge block up to 150 mm on extra-thick pipe. The clamshell body and ring gear are unchanged — only the tool block and drive module are upgraded for the higher cutting forces.
Which hydraulic power-packs are available for the OCH variant?
Power-pack rating follows pipe size — 7.5 kW up to Ø 610 mm, 11 kW for Ø 610 – 1230 mm, 15 kW above Ø 1230 mm. Three types are available: a primary power-pack (7.5 kW, 380 V 3-phase 5-wire, 10 MPa rated, 0 – 36 L/min adjustable, PLC control with electronic display, manual or remote start, ~239 kg); an explosion-proof power-pack (7.5 kW, BT4 / CT4 rating, 10 MPa, 36 L/min, for hazardous areas); and a diesel power-pack (22 HP / 15 kW engine, 10 MPa, 50 L/min, manual start, for sites with no mains power).
