Internal-Expansion ID-Mounted Pipe Beveler

ID-mounted cold beveler for pipe Ø 18 – 830 mm. Two series share one expanding-mandrel platform: the lightweight T-Model for standard wall (≤ 15 mm) and the heavy-wall II-Model (≤ 75 mm). The mandrel inserts into the bore and self-centers, then bevels, chamfers and trims the pipe end in one setup. Electric, pneumatic or Metabo drive — interchangeable on the same body.

02 Working Principle

How ID-mounted internal expansion works

A segmented mandrel passes into the pipe bore; a draw-bar drives a tapered cone that pushes the mandrel jaws radially outward until they grip the pipe ID. Because the cutting head shares the mandrel axis, it is concentric to the bore by construction — the machine auto-centers itself in the pipe with no manual indication. With grip referenced to the ID, the pipe end stays fully exposed for the tool head, so the same setup can bevel, chamfer, trim the edge and even face a convex flange after welding. The lightweight T-Model covers standard wall (≤ 15 mm) across the full Ø 18 – 830 mm range; the II-Model uses a reinforced tool-post for heavy wall up to 75 mm on the larger Ø 80 – 830 mm sizes.

03 Key Features

Built for the job site.

// 01
Two series — standard T-Model & heavy-wall II-Model
One expanding-mandrel platform, two tool-post builds. The portable T-Model handles standard wall up to 15 mm with conventional bevel angles (0° / 30° / 37.5° / 45°); the heavy-wall II-Model takes wall up to 75 mm with bevel angle freely adjustable 0° – 40° for thick-wall code joints.
// 02
Expanding mandrel — self-centering in the bore
The expansion mechanism inserts into the pipe ID and locates the cutting head to the bore centerline automatically. No surface indication, no setup error from an ovalized or corroded OD — light weight and quick to mount.
// 03
Bevel · chamfer · trim · flange facing in one setup
Multi-position tool-post produces V / U / J and compound prep (and double-J on the II-Model) with land and counterbore, and can also machine a convex flange face after welding — without re-fixturing.
// 04
Interchangeable drive — Electric / Pneumatic / Metabo
The same body accepts an ISE electric (220 V, 50 Hz, 6 A, 1.2 – 2 kW), an ISP pneumatic (0.8 – 1.0 MPa air, 1000 – 2000 L/min) or an ISM Metabo motor. Drive mode is replaceable — run pneumatic in explosion-/fire-risk areas, electric for in-shop work.
// 05
Modular sizes — Ø 18 to 830 mm
Nine body sizes (Model 30 through 850) share the same chuck interface, covering everything from small-bore instrumentation tube to vessel-shell penetrations.
// 06
Cold cutting — no HAZ
Carbide tooling (CS0° / CS30° / CS37.5° / RCS15° bits) at machining speeds on carbon, stainless and alloy steel. Parent metallurgy unchanged; cut quality is good with a fine-adjustable depth of cut.
06 FAQ

Common questions about the ISE · ISP · ISM · T + II-Model.

Can't find your answer?

What is the difference between the T-Model and the II-Model?
Both are ID-mounted and share the same self-centering expanding mandrel; they differ in wall capacity and bevel range. The T-Model (the "-1" series) is the lightweight standard tool — wall thickness up to 15 mm across the full Ø 18 – 830 mm range, with conventional bevel angles of 0°, 30°, 37.5° and 45°. The II-Model (the "-2" series) is the heavy-wall build — wall up to 75 mm on the larger Ø 80 – 830 mm sizes, with the bevel angle freely adjustable from 0° to 40° for V, compound, J and double-J prep on thick-wall code joints.
Which drive options are available, and can I change them?
Three: ISE electric (220 V, 50 Hz, 6 A, 1.2 – 2 kW), ISP pneumatic (0.8 – 1.0 MPa air, 1000 – 2000 L/min) and ISM Metabo. The drive mode is replaceable on the same machine body — fab shops keep one body and swap the motor per job, running pneumatic in explosion-/fire-risk areas and electric in the shop.
What materials and joint geometries can it prepare?
Carbon steel, stainless steel and alloy steel. Using interchangeable carbide bits (CS0°, CS30°, CS37.5°, RCS15°) it produces V-type, compound bevel, J-type and double-J prep with a fine-adjustable depth of cut, and can also machine a convex flange face after welding.
