External-Clamping Automatic Pipe Beveler (ISC Series)

OD-clamped automatic pipe beveler built for narrow working spaces and small-diameter pipe ends. An external bidirectional clamp seats on the pipe OD, swappable cushion blocks size it to each diameter, and a Metabo drive feeds the tool automatically — the right tool whenever the pipe ID is blocked, sealed or too tight for an internal mandrel.

02 Working Principle

How narrow-body external clamping works

The machine clamps on the pipe OD instead of the bore: a bidirectional clamp block — sized to the pipe diameter from the cushion-block set — seats on a single tube and centers the cutting head to it, leaving the ID free and untouched. Because the frame is built around a slim clamp rather than a bulky chuck, its cross-section fits where conventional OD bevelers cannot — for example a boiler water-wall, a row of small-OD tubes welded edge-to-edge by membrane fins with center-to-center spacing of only 30 – 80 mm. A Metabo angle-grinder motor with gear-reduction auto-feed delivers consistent cold cutting without the operator managing feed by hand, including in restricted or overhead positions.

03 Key Features

Built for the job site.

// 01
Compact narrow body — fits tight working spaces
Slim clamp-block architecture slots into gaps that defeat chuck-type bevelers — between water-wall fins, inside congested racks, or anywhere the pipe end is boxed in. Clamp block sized per pipe OD.
// 02
External OD clamping — works on blocked IDs
Mounts on the pipe OD only. The right tool when the ID is sealed (header welds), too small for a mandrel, or filled with scale and corrosion.
// 03
Swappable cushion blocks — one body, many sizes
A set of cushion blocks adapts each frame across its OD band for accurate, repeatable centering — Ø 25 mm up to Ø 114 mm across four models.
// 04
Bidirectional clamping
Jaws can re-orient for vertical or horizontal pipe attitude — required where adjacent tubes or structure constrain the only viable approach angle.
// 05
Automatic feed
Mechanical auto-feed gear maintains constant tool advance per revolution. The operator can position and step back — important on overhead or repetitive work.
// 06
Metabo drive — global spares network, cold cutting
Standard Metabo angle-grinder motor as the prime mover, with worldwide spare-parts availability. Carbide tooling at machining speeds preserves the parent metallurgy of T11, T22, Inconel and stainless — no HAZ.
06 FAQ

Common questions about the ISC Series · External Clamp.

Can't find your answer?

How is this different from the SOC chuck-type or cam-type bevelers?
The ISC trades general capacity for narrow-body access. SOC chuck-type (Ø 25 – 1230 mm) and cam-type (Ø 14 – 114 mm) both have larger body cross-sections — they cannot fit between water-wall tubes or into boxed-in pipe ends. The ISC is engineered for restricted-access work where adjacent tubes or structure constrain the envelope. If your pipe ends are free and accessible, SOC or cam-type will be faster.
Can it be used on regular pipe, not just boiler tubes?
Yes — it is a general OD-clamped beveler for any Ø 25 – 114 mm pipe with wall ≤ 12 mm. The boiler water-wall is simply its most demanding habitat. For fab-shop volume work on free pipe ends the cam-type SCB/SCP is lighter and faster to set up; the ISC's value is access in tight geometry.
Why a Metabo motor specifically?
Metabo is the de-facto standard angle-grinder motor in European and Middle-East field-service fleets. Using it as the prime mover means spare parts and replacement motors are available from any industrial tools supplier, and field technicians already know how to service them.
