FAQ

Questions we answer most.

Grouped the way the questions actually arrive — choosing a machine, running it, keeping it running, and buying one.

01 Products & selection
What's the difference between ID-mount and OD-mount bevelers?
ID-mount bevelers expand inside the bore. They are lighter, faster to set up, and the obvious choice when the pipe end is open and clear. OD-mount (clamshell) machines clamp around the outside and work on pipe that is already installed — close to a wall, in a rack, or where the bore is obstructed. Full comparison in ID vs OD mount pipe bevelers.
How do I choose the right machine for my work?
Five things decide it: diameter or plate thickness range, wall thickness, material, the bevel geometry your WPS calls for, and whether the work comes to the machine or the machine goes to the work. Send us those five and we will name a model. Or start with the 2026 buying guide.
Do your machines handle stainless and other alloys?
Yes — stainless, duplex, chrome-moly and Inconel, with the appropriate insert grade. Cold machining matters more on these materials than on carbon steel, because a thermal cut leaves a chromium-depleted zone that has to be ground back before welding. See beveling stainless steel and P91 and chrome-moly.
Portable or stationary?
Stationary machines are faster per cut and more accurate, and they make sense when spools come to a shop. Portable machines win the moment the work cannot move — installed pipe, site repairs, anything already welded into a system. The trade-off in detail.
02 Operation & maintenance
How often do cutting inserts need replacing?
Roughly 200 – 500 bevels on carbon steel, considerably fewer on stainless or hardened material. The signals are chatter marks, a rougher finish, and rising cutting force. Keep spares on the shelf — an insert change is minutes, waiting for a shipment is days.
What maintenance does the machine need?
Chips and swarf wiped down daily, guide rails and bearings lubricated weekly, gears and drive components inspected monthly, calibration checked periodically. A full schedule ships with every machine; the reasoning behind it is in the maintenance guide.
The machine is not cutting cleanly — what do I check first?
Nine times out of ten it is a dull insert or uneven clamping. Check the machine is seated square to the pipe face and the clamping force is even all round. Chatter marks mean reduce feed rate; a rough finish usually means the wrong insert grade for the material.
How do I verify the bevel angle on site?
A bevel protractor or gauge against the machined face, checked at several points around the circumference — a single reading will not catch a machine that is sitting out of square. Method and tolerances in how to measure bevel angles.
03 Training & support
Do you train operators?
Video walkthroughs ship with every machine, and we arrange remote or on-site sessions on request. Most operators are comfortable after a day of hands-on practice — the harder part is usually persuading an experienced welder to change a method that has worked for twenty years.
What does the warranty cover?
12 months on manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. Wear parts — inserts, clamping jaws, seals — are covered for 3 months. Misuse and unauthorised modification are not covered. Extended options are available.
How fast can you ship replacement parts?
Common wear parts are held in stock and normally leave Shenzhen within 24 – 48 hours. Expedited shipping is available for line-down situations. If a machine is critical to your schedule, keep a basic spare kit on site.
04 Customisation & orders
Can machines be customised?
Routinely. Bevel angles, clamping ranges and tool configurations are modified for specific projects; unusual pipe sizes, special materials and non-standard working conditions are normal enquiries rather than exceptions. Send the drawing.
Is there a minimum order?
One unit. We sell to individual contractors and crews, not only to bulk buyers. Volume pricing and OEM/ODM branding start to apply on multi-unit orders.
Do you rent machines?
We do not run a rental fleet ourselves, but several equipment rental companies stock our machines. Ask and we will point you at one in your region.
What does a machine cost?
Ranges by machine type, and what moves a machine inside its band, are set out on the cost guide. For a figure against your actual specification, send a request — we reply within 24 hours.
