DMM-90X ASME B16.25 EN ISO 9692-1 AWS D1.1 (structural)

DMM-90X Automatic Traveling Double-Bevel Edge Milling Machine

Self-propelled plate edge miller with a flip-over body — bevels the top of the edge, then turns 180° to bevel the underside, so X and K weld preps on 4 – 80 mm plate never need the plate turned over. Bevel angle 0° – 75°, bevel width up to 70 mm, plus 0° side milling of the plate edge.

02 Working Principle

One machine, both faces — the body flips instead of the plate

An X or K joint needs a bevel on the top and the bottom of the plate edge. The usual way to get the second face is to crane the plate over, re-square it and run the edge again. The DMM-90X turns itself over instead. Its cutter head, main motor and electrical box sit on a flip seat on the lifting column: run the top bevel, remove the four M12 bolts on the seat, rotate the machine 180°, bolt it back and run the bottom bevel along the same plate edge. A hydraulic jack and a gas-spring lift set the working height to the plate, a large handwheel clamps the plate, and the travel motor walks the machine along the edge while the cutter mills it cold. On large plate the machine travels with a plate holder supporting the work; on small plate it travels just the same.

03 Key Features

Built for the job site.

// 01
Upper and lower bevels without turning the plate
The machine flips 180° on its seat to reach the underside of the edge, so X and K preps on heavy plate need no crane lift, re-squaring or re-clamping of the plate.
// 02
0° – 75° bevel angle, plus side milling
The angle is set freely across 0° – 75° with a hand ratchet wrench. At 0° the head mills the plate side flat, so one machine handles bevels and edge squaring.
// 03
Plate up to 80 mm, bevel width up to 70 mm
Takes 4 – 80 mm plate. Each pass removes up to 25 mm of bevel width; repeat passes build the bevel out to 70 mm.
// 04
Self-propelled — not limited by site or plate size
The machine walks the plate edge on its own, on large plate with a plate holder and on small plate as well. Compared with a gantry edge miller it costs less, uses less energy, is easier to maintain and moves easily around the shop.
// 05
Simple controls
A small handwheel feeds the cutter in and out, a knob on the electrical box sets cutting speed during the pass, and a hydraulic jack with gas-spring assist sets machine height.
// 06
Cold milling — hardness unchanged
Fully mechanical cutting with no heat input, so edge hardness is not altered. Works carbon steel, chrome steel, cast iron, stainless steel and hard plastics, and runs up to 50 times faster than chamfering by hand.
06 FAQ

Common questions about the DMM-90X.

Can't find your answer?

How does the machine reach the underside of the plate?
It flips itself over. After the top bevel, remove the four M12 hex bolts on the flip seat, rotate the machine 180° and bolt it back; it then runs the bottom bevel along the same edge. The plate stays clamped where it is.
What bevel sizes can it cut?
Bevel angle 0° – 75° on both faces and bevel width 0 – 70 mm on plate 4 – 80 mm thick. A single pass removes up to 25 mm of bevel width; wider bevels are built up over repeat passes.
DMM-90X or DMM-1232 for double-sided work?
The DMM-1232 cuts the top and bottom faces in the same pass, on 4 – 55 mm plate. The DMM-90X cuts one face per pass and flips between them, but takes plate up to 80 mm, steeper angles (to 75°) and wider bevels (to 70 mm). Pick the 1232 for throughput on medium plate, the 90X for thicker plate and larger bevels.
What about plate thicker than 80 mm?
Use the DMM heavy-duty hydraulic edge miller, which takes plate up to 150 mm.
Which materials can it machine?
Carbon steel, chrome steel, cast iron, stainless steel and hard plastics. Cutting is fully cold, so the hardness of the edge is not changed.
