DC / DY Single-Head ISO 286 H7 / H8 (length tolerance) DIN 6784 chamfer geometry

Single-Head Automatic Pipe Chamfering Machine

Automatic single-end chamfering and facing station for pipe and solid bar. Pedal-start cycle performs external chamfer, internal chamfer and end facing in one pass — 3-5 second cycle, ±0.1 mm length tolerance. Pneumatic (DC) for thin-wall high speed; hydraulic (DY) for heavy-wall thick pipe and bar.

02 Working Principle

How automatic pipe chamfering replaces lathe work

A manual lathe operator typically takes 60 – 90 s per pipe end to chuck, set tool depth, face, chamfer, and unchuck — and the result varies with operator skill. The single-head chamfering machine inverts the workflow: the operator only places the pipe in the V-block and steps on a foot pedal. The machine pneumatically (DC) or hydraulically (DY) clamps the pipe, axially feeds a multi-tool head that simultaneously cuts the external chamfer, internal chamfer and end face in 3 – 5 seconds, then retracts and releases. Operator productivity rises 10×+ versus lathe work, and length tolerance stays at ±0.1 mm regardless of operator fatigue — which is the actual requirement for downstream robotic welding and assembly.

03 Key Features

Built for the job site.

// 01
3-in-1 tool head — chamfer + chamfer + face
External chamfer, internal chamfer and end facing cut simultaneously by a single multi-position tool head. Three operations in 3 – 5 seconds — replaces three separate lathe operations.
// 02
Pedal-start automatic cycle
Operator places pipe in V-block, presses pedal. Machine clamps, feeds, chamfers, retracts, releases. No setup per pipe within a length run; total operator action per piece is < 2 seconds of loading.
// 03
±0.1 mm length tolerance
Rigid cast-iron head and linear guides produce repeatable cut depth. Length consistency is the actual requirement for downstream robotic welding cells — they fail when tolerance exceeds ±0.3 mm.
// 04
Pneumatic (DC) for thin wall, hydraulic (DY) for heavy
DC pneumatic at 0.6 – 0.8 MPa for thin-wall furniture and automotive tubing (max 4 mm wall on solid bar). DY hydraulic for thick-walled pipe and large solid bar — sustained torque on Sch 80 / 160 carbon and alloy work.
// 05
Round, square and solid bar
Standard V-block clamps handle round tube. Custom jaws available for square tubing and solid bar — common in furniture and structural-component manufacturing.
// 06
9 sizes from 3 mm to 425 mm OD
Single-supplier range covers everything from instrumentation tubing (DC-60) to heavy hydraulic pipe (DY-450B). Production shops standardize on one machine family for the entire pipe stock.
06 FAQ

Common questions about the DC / DY Single-Head.

Can't find your answer?

Single-head or double-head — which should I order?
Single-head (this machine) for general-purpose pipe-end preparation where you typically need one end chamfered (e.g. fitting onto a coupler) or pipes are too long for double-head loading. Double-head for high-volume production where both ends must match length tolerance for robotic welding assembly. Crossover is typically at 500 – 1000 pieces/day — below that, single-head is more economical.
Why pneumatic vs hydraulic?
Pneumatic (DC) is faster per cycle (3 – 5 s) and lower acquisition cost — use for thin-walled tubing (≤ 4 mm wall) where cutting forces are low. Hydraulic (DY) delivers sustained cutting torque indefinitely and handles heavy wall (up to 20 mm) and large solid bar — use when material grade and wall thickness exceed pneumatic capacity.
Can it chamfer square tubing or just round?
Round is standard. Square tubing is supported with custom V-block jaws — specify cross-section at quotation. The tool head and feed mechanism work identically once the workpiece is clamped square to the axis.
What chamfer geometries are possible?
Standard C-chamfer (45° flat) and R-chamfer (curved) are supplied with stock tooling. Custom angles (15°, 30°, 37.5°) and J-prep geometries can be cut with custom tool sets — specify at quotation if you need a particular bevel standard for downstream welding.
