Wide-Belt Slag Removal & Surface Finishing System

Wide-belt sheet-metal finishing system covering the full range from heavy plasma slag removal to fine stainless hairline finish. Seven configurations cover single- and double-belt, with optional integrated roller-brush edge rounding, single- or double-sided processing, on plate up to 100 mm thick and 1300 mm wide.

02 Working Principle

How wide-belt slag removal works

A continuous abrasive belt — typically 1020 mm wide on the 1000 mm working width models — runs over a rigid contact roller above the conveyor. Sheet parts enter on a vacuum + magnetic conveyor bed; the contact roller's pressure forces the belt against the part surface, abrading slag, oxide and dross uniformly across the full width. Belt grit and contact-roller hardness are chosen per application: a coarse belt over a hard rubber roller for plasma slag removal; a fine belt over a soft contact roller for stainless hairline finishing. The SSQ / SSQ-L configurations add downstream roller-brush stations that round edges after the belt has flattened the surface — combining two finishing steps into one pass. The SM (double-sided) variant adds a mirror set of belts below the conveyor, so both faces of the plate finish in one pass.

03 Key Features

Built for the job site.

// 01
Configurable from one belt to seven stations
Configure by application. SS for pure plasma slag; SQ / SSQ when slag removal must be combined with edge rounding; R-R for hairline finishing; SM when both faces need finishing in one pass.
// 02
Vacuum + magnetic hybrid conveyor
Grips both magnetic (steel) and non-magnetic (aluminum, copper, stainless) parts during high-pressure sanding. Holds parts down to 50 × 50 mm — critical for processing small laser-cut parts without lift-off.
// 03
PLC + touchscreen on premium variants
SSQ1000-L includes PLC with recipe storage for grit selection, contact pressure, and feed rate per material. Eliminates operator dependency on quality-critical jobs like stainless hairline.
// 04
Heavy-duty frame, vibration-damped
1600 – 4200 kg rigid construction. The mass is what makes consistent finish across long production runs possible — light-frame imitators lose surface uniformity within minutes of operation.
// 05
Plasma slag, laser oxide and hairline from one platform
The same architecture handles thermal-cut slag (coarse belt + hard roller) and decorative stainless hairline (fine belt + soft roller). Production shops standardize on one machine type across applications.
// 06
Wet or dry dust collection options
Dry collection for steel-only production. Wet collection mandatory when aluminum is in the mix — aluminum dust + steel sparks is a documented combustion hazard. Both options available on all variants.
06 FAQ

Common questions about the SQ · SSQ · SS · R-R · SM Series.

Can't find your answer?

I just need to round edges — do I need this or the QC brush deburrer?
QC. The wide-belt system is sized for heavy slag and dross from thermal-cut parts, and for surface finishing (hairline). If your parts come off a laser cutter or stamping press with only sharp edges and light oxide, the QC roller-brush deburrer is the right tool — lower acquisition cost and simpler operation. The wide-belt system makes sense when you have plasma slag, heavy oxide, or a surface finish requirement.
Which variant for stainless steel hairline (No. 4) finish?
R-R 1000 for dedicated polishing work — 2 belts with the right grit progression produce a uniform hairline directly. SSQ1000-L when you need hairline AND deburring on the same parts (2 belts + 4 brushes + PLC recipe control). For heavy-volume production where one side at a time is too slow, the SM double-sided variant.
Plasma slag removal — single belt or double belt?
Single belt (SS1000) for light-to-medium dross from oxygen plasma on thin plate (up to 25 mm). Double belt (SSQ1000 or SSQ1300) for heavy dross from nitrogen plasma on thick plate (> 25 mm) — the first belt breaks the slag, the second belt finishes the surface. SSQ1000-L for heavy slag AND immediate hairline finish on stainless work.
What's the deal with wet vs dry dust collection?
Dry dust collection works for steel-only production. The moment aluminum enters the mix you need wet collection — aluminum dust ignited by steel sparks is a documented combustion hazard (multiple fatal incidents on record). Wet collection traps both metals in a water bath. Specify material mix at quotation and we will configure accordingly.
Can the brushes be retrofitted later?
The SS, R-R and SM models do not include roller brushes. Adding brushes after the fact requires extending the frame for an additional station — possible but expensive. If you anticipate needing edge rounding within 24 months, order an SQ or SSQ variant (belt + brush) from the start.
